Living with his father and a caretaker-like brother named Bongani, Mentari has been grown like a princess, a hard-working one. Being the future heir of her father's coffee business, Koffiehuis, is no easy deal. She has to learn the business from a young age and keep up with the loneliness his father left on each expedition in order to manage their coffee farm on a neighbouring continent and to sell it to another island. Having Bongani and the other Koffiehuis staff around was never enough. It's not because she's not treated well enough. It's just her skin. Different colour from her own father and brother and her surroundings. She starts to wonder who she actually is. Why is her skin in that colour, who is her father, why is she living where she is, does she has a mother, and who she is?
